Thoughts and Emotions ...

Just as the ocean has waves, and the sun has rays, so the mind’s own radiance is its thoughts and emotions. The ocean has waves, yet the ocean is not particularly disturbed by them. The waves are the very nature of the ocean. Waves will rise, but where do they go? Back into the ocean. And where do the waves come from? The ocean.

In the same manner, thoughts and emotions are the radiance and expression of the very nature of the mind. They rise from the mind, but where do they dissolve? Back into the mind. Whatever rises, do not see it as a particular problem. If you do not impulsively react, if you are only patient, it will once again settle into its essential nature.

When you have this understanding, then rising thoughts only enhance your practice. But when you do not understand what they intrinsically are—the radiance of the nature of your mind—then your thoughts become the seed of confusion. So have a spacious, open, and compassionate attitude toward your thoughts and emotions, because in fact your thoughts are your family, the family of your mind. Before them, as Dudjom Rinpoche used to say: “Be like an old wise man, watching a child play.”

There is no armor like perseverance

Imagine that you had gone all your life without ever washing, and then one day you decide to take a shower. You start scrubbing away, but then watch in horror as the dirt begins to ooze out of the pores of your skin and stream down your body. Something must be wrong: You were supposed to be getting cleaner and all you can see is grime. You panic and fling yourself out of the shower, convinced that you should never have begun. But you only end up even more dirty than before. You have no way of knowing that the wisest thing to do is to be patient and to finish the shower. It may look for a while as if you are getting even dirtier, but if you keep on washing, you will emerge fresh and clean. It’s all a process, the process of purification.

Whenever doubt arises, see it simply as an obstacle, recognize it as an understanding that is calling out to be clarified or unblocked, and know that it is not a fundamental problem but simply a stage in the process of purification and learning. Allow the process to continue and complete itself, and never lose your trust or resolve. This is the way followed by all the great practitioners of the past, who used to say: “There is no armor like perseverance.”

When we do the best we can

On this day of your life, dear friend, I believe God wants you to know...

...that when we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another.

Hellen Keller said that, and she was right. There is a situation in your life right now where you are being asked to do your best, your very best. Maybe it is in finding forgiveness for another. Or is understanding something that you just haven't been able to understand. Or in accepting what has to this point felt unacceptable.

Whatever that situation (and you know exactly what it is right now) ... are you doing the best that you can? If you are, so be it, and good. Yet if you think you might do better, allow this little nudge today to be your gift from the soul. A miracle awaits if you will reach back now and do your very, very, very best in this.

Think twice before you open your mouth!

Think twice before you open your mouth. Words are like bullets. They are loaded with emotional gunpowder. What comes out of your mind & your mouth is more important than what goes in.

Two ways of being happy!

There are two ways of being happy: We may either diminish our wants or augment our means - either will do - the result in the same; and it is for each man to decide for himself, and do that which happens to be the easiest. If you are idle or sick or poor, however hard it may be to diminish your wants, it will be harder to augment your means. If you are active and prosperous or young and in good health, it may be easier for you to augment your means than to diminish your wants. But if you are wise, you will do both at the same time, young or old, rich or poor, sick or well; and if you are very wise you will do both in such a way as to augment the general happiness of society.

Forgive, especially yourselves!

Let us be strong enough, so we are able to forgive ourselves if we falter...believe me it's much easier to blame yourself. But it requires strength to forgive, especially ourselves!

A quote from Paramhansa Yoganada to think about... "Saints are Sinners that never stopped trying."

Even when they made a mistake they forgave themselves and continued to persevere on the Path of Spirituality. Do as much as you can, but make a genuine effort to better yourself spiritually!

The road to success is always under construction

Winning isn't everything. But wanting to win is.

Don't fight too much. Or the enemy would know your art of war.

If you don't stand for something, you will fall for everything.

Only those who do nothing do not make mistakes.

The road to success is always under construction.

Don't fall in love; grow in love.

Mental & Emotional Effort!

Mental & Emotional Effort means finding the ways and means of overcoming a problem. Be calm and continue pushing ahead.

Peace and Stillness!

Peace and stillness are the great remedy for disease. Catch hold of a peace deep within and push it into the cells of the body. With the peace will come back the health. - The Mother

It is okay to be at a place of struggle

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...

....that it is okay to be at a place of struggle. Struggle is just another word for growth. Even the most evolved beings find themselves in a place of struggle now and then. In fact, struggle is a sure sign to them that they are expanding; it is their indication of real and important progress.

The only one who doesn't struggle is the one who doesn't grow. So if you are struggling right now, see it as a terrific sign -- and celebrate your struggle.
